I have 15 years of experience in various aspects of nursing and leadership obtained during my career as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces.
As a Registered Nurse and adult educator, my knowledge base includes primary care, mental health skills, support and mindfulness training, as well as experience in working with individuals with physical and developmental disabilities and mental illness. I have also worked with patients and families, through end of life and palliative care, which is where my passion lies.
Diagnosis, chronic illness, and nearing end of life, can be overwhelming. Fear of the unknown, intense emotions, conflict, feelings of isolation, unpreparedness and lack of peace of mind can cause people to feel exhausted, stressed, and sometimes traumatized. Dignity in death is important to me; as an end-of-life Doula, I wish to help make this transition in death less fearful and more peaceful
